New Experiences at SU still provide fond memories!
Posted on 01/12/2007 by Ronald and Nancy Stegens, Parent

Susquehanna University gave our daughter, Jody Stegens '04, confidence and independence.

Susquehanna University gave our daughter, Jody Stegens '04, confidence and independence. Her first solo long distance car and overnight trip was from New Jersey to L’universite Laval in Quebec City, Quebec to attend a French program set up through Susquehanna. She had never driven that far alone before. She had never stayed at a hotel alone before. She was going to a strange city. She knew no one that was going to be there. She was going to be immersed in French!! This was arranged through the French Department at SU. The first couple of days were difficult and there were a large number of phone calls to home. Then, she settled in and found it to be the greatest experience. Still fond memories for her! She still talks about it. We also felt that after attempting and succeeding at this experience, she was ready for anything.

Jody is currently working at City Year. City Year is a national organization uniting diverse 17-24 year olds for year-long community service projects. She is a program manager, and has been there for three years.
